The Town of Cary has devised a multi-phased approach to treating the aggressive Hemlock Woolly Adelgids that were discovered this summer at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve. After reviewing a comprehensive report of management options, a method called “bark painting” will be the Town’s first phase of treatment.

The Woolly Adelgid is an aggressive hemlock destroyer. They have been discovered at Cary’s Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve the Town of Cary has reported to the CaryCitizen. The Town is working with local, state, national experts to finalize and implement treatment plan.

Cary, NC – The Town of Cary’s outstanding volunteer for 2010 and recipient of the Herb C. Young Award is Paul Wasylkevych. Wasylkevych and hundreds of other volunteers who give their time to town events, activities, boards and commissions, were honored Tuesday night at a banquet and celebration at the Herb C. Young Community Center.
