Just a week ago, the Women’s USA Baseball Team was in Cary, warming up for the World Baseball Championship in Caracas, Venezuela. Now, the tournament is on hold pending an investigation of a shooting inside the stadium where the games are played.

In the first meeting of a five game series, USA Baseball College National Team hung a no-hitter on the 2008 Beijing Olympic Gold Medal winner Korea, winning 3-0 at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary.

Cary, NC – The 2010 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship is all wrapped up, with Southern Indiana defeating UC San Diego 6-4 in the final game. It was a week of high drama and hard fought competition at the USA Baseball National Training Complex at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary. Chris Adamczyk and Karl Fisher covered the games for CaryCitizen. To kick off Championship Week, the Miracle League of the Triangle had its own Home Run Derby. And a crowd of NCAA athletes from the Div II championships were there to help kids with disabilities enjoy the day.

USA Baseball has announced it’s first wide-ranging tryouts to recruit members for the 2010 Women’s National Baseball squad. Players will compete in one of six regional tryout locations across the country. Cary will host one of the regional trials on July 3-4 at Thomas Brooks Park.

USA Baseball is set to come back to Cary from September 2-6 to train for the IBAF World Cup including 4 games against Canada.
