Tech Employment Grows in Cary

Cary, NC – A new study by Skillproof showed a surge in IT jobs in North Carolina since last year.

The index climbed to 2,970 jobs in April, rising for the fourth consecutive month according to Local Tech Wire. That’s up from a low of 1,250 in the spring of 2009.

According to the study, Charlotte is up 8 percent so far this year followed by Raleigh-Cary at 6 percent. The biggest gains have come in the Hickory-Lenior-Morgantown metro area at 9.8 percent. Durham IT employment declined 2.3 percent during the same time period.

Reminder: Town of Cary Citizen Boards

Cary, NC – Just two weeks remain to apply for one of the upcoming 30 vacancies on 10 Town of Cary citizen advisory boards and commissions. Selected applicants will volunteer for three-year staggered terms, except where unexpired terms are being filled, and provide input on a variety of topics relating to the Cary community.

Event: Music 4 Hope

It’s a Party!

From 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, Cambria Suites at RDU Airport will be sponsoring a public charity event with Music4Hope.

The Music4Hope Foundation brings music into the lives of children and their families who are experiencing life threatening diseases, including cancer.

Our mission is to bring music into the lives of children and their families experiencing life threatening diseases, you have come to the right place. Our first charity project last year benefited the NC Children’s Promise which raised over $1,000,000.00.

Free food and drinks will be available and all donations will go directly to Music4Hope, which supports Duke Children’s Hospital and UNC for children with cancer.

There will also be live music by Rush Street as well as several prizes given away by Cambria Suites, including a romance package, bed & breakfast package and a weekend night stay with a bottle of wine.

Gospel Music Shouting Out at Sertoma

CARY, NC – Inspired by Dixieland, jazz, blues and old-time spirituals, the Mangum and Company Shout Band is bringing its powerful upbeat brand of gospel music to Sertoma Amphitheatre at Bond Park this Saturday, May 8 at 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Town of Cary and PineCone, is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to preserving, presenting, and promoting traditional music, dance, and other folk performing arts. Make-A-Wish Gala in Cary

Cary, N.C. – The Eastern N.C. Chapter of Make-A-Wish will be holding its annual gala event to “celebrate the wishes of the year past and raise funds for those yet to be granted” on May 1 from 7 pm until midnight.  NBC17’s Donald Jones will emcee the event at Embassy Suites on Harrison Oaks in Cary.

2000 Wishes Granted

Make-A-Wish will celebrate their milestone 2,000th granted wish.  The evening will feature dinner, live and silent auctions, and the music of Brick House.
