Carolina Parent has named several Cary companies to their annual “Family-friendly 50 List”. Congrats go out to Cary companies SciQuest, SAS, Confero, WakeMed Cary, Arysta LifeScience North America and RTI International.
CARY, N.C. – Kids ‘R’ Kids of Cary has announced that the preschools have redesigned their playgrounds to reflect environmentally-friendly practices.
On Monday, August 23, the Cary Council met jointly with the Morrisville Council. The Morrisville staff and Cary staff presented items of common interest between both municipalities. Many significant items were discussed. Our mayor, Harold Weinbrecht had this to say in his blog:
The Town of Cary has devised a multi-phased approach to treating the aggressive Hemlock Woolly Adelgids that were discovered this summer at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve. After reviewing a comprehensive report of management options, a method called “bark painting” will be the Town’s first phase of treatment.

There are a lot more hungry families in Cary and vicinity than you may think, and the numbers are climbing. In June, 31,090 households in Wake County received Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) benefits, with 68,116 individuals receiving benefits that month, according to the North Carolina Division of Social Services. Also in June, 2,737 new applications were submitted for FNS benefits.
CARY, NC – Following a three-month search involving federal, state and local officials, Kenneth Lamont Taylor, 33, of Durham was arrested August 19 for the murder of Jibrael Menelik.
“Walk for Wings is a fun, family event that will not only raise much-needed funds for The Carying Place, but also raises awareness of the homeless working families and at-risk children in our community” said Alice McCall, Executive Director of The Carying Place.
The very first Lazy Daze was organized in 1976 by Cary artist Jerry Miller. Miller had been traveling around to other local street fairs and thought Cary should have one too. This year, the Town estimates that 50,000 people attend the 34th Annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. In all likelihood, Jerry will be there.
